A few words about our house wines

We are really conscious that for many people ‘House Wine’ equals safe territory. At Fifteen we decided that as soon as we could justify investing in larger volumes of both bulk and bottled wine with a view to creating a range of own label product (and so long as what we were buying fit our criteria), we would.

With the help of Liberty Wines in London, and in some cases having to twist a few arms along the way, we’ve been able to bring together some of the worlds most exciting young winemakers to help create our own label range. The intention is to create great and affordable wines that completely over deliver, while also sitting comfortably within their environment.

Fifteen Melbourne will open with one old favorite and two exciting new additions to our range, with a ‘student made’ fourth wine joining the ranks mid next year.

Fifteen Own Label

Fifteen Vino Bianco, 2005 - Marlborough, NZ
Made by kiwi dynamo Matt Thomson, the Vino Bianco 05 is 100% Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc. Super fresh and lifted with all the hallmarks you’ve come to expect from this style, but with lovely purity of fruit and a few extra layers in a bid for more depth and richness.

Fifteen Vino Rosso, 2005 - McLaren Vale, South Australia
Put together by the great Steven Pannell, this ripe chunky mix of McLaren Vale Grenache and Shiraz is concentrated and fruit-rich, but with lovely softness in the mouth, fresh acidity and served by low level fine drying tannins.

Fifteen Vino Frizzante, NV - Conegliano, Italy
Another Matt Thomson wine! When we originally tasted samples of this Prosecco it was considerably sweeter, and so we talked to the producer about trying to reduce the dosage in a bid to create a drier, leaner style. We are really happy with the end result!

Fifteen Vino Rosato, 2007 – Yarra Valley, Victoria
Although not yet made, this wine promises to be the most exciting edition to the range so far. With the help of Yering Station, our students will next year be responsible for producing a Rose to be sold through Fifteen Melbourne with all proceeds going straight back into the foundation.  From picking to bottling, the students will be intimately involved in the production of this wine through regular visits out to Yering Station.
