“Having not been the brightest banana in the bunch myself, I realised that my biggest weapon in life was the determination, enthusiasm, hands-on and "actions speak louder than words" approach my father taught me, and I wanted to get this across to others, especially those interested in food.”

Jamie Oliver, inspirational founder and trustee of Fifteen

Fifteen is a unique scheme combining a rigorous on-the-job training programme for disadvantaged and marginalised youth with top class restaurants combining excellent food with friendly, approachable service.

The project was originally the brainchild of British chef Jamie Oliver beginning in 2002 with Fifteen's flagship restaurant in London. Now a global social enterprise, with additional restaurants in Amsterdam and Cornwall. Fifteen continues to grow and we are proud to be the fourth member of the family.

Our executive head chef Tobie Puttock originated from Melbourne spent two and a half years working with Jamie at Fifteen London before operning Fifteen Melbourne.  He has now brought his experience and expertise back home and leads our kitchen with his team of world class professional chefs.   Producing dishes of the highest quality, they inspire and guide 20 young apprentices each year.

Fifteen food is Italian-influenced (thanks to Tobie and Jamie’s grounding at London’s River Café), specialising in silky home-made pastas and risottos, fresh fish and hearty rustic meat and poultry dishes using the best seasonal produce from Victoria, the rest of Australia and Italy.  Our emphasis is on allowing bold natural flavours to shine, and, where possible, we source organic and biodynamic produce.  Both à la carte and degustation menus are offered, as well as extensive wines, spirits, liqueurs, cocktails and tailored beverage packages to match your meal.

Every month, funds from the restaurant are reinvested into the apprenticeship schemes.  So not only will you have great food and an unforgettable experience, but you know you’ll be directly helping our hardworking apprentices to turn their lives around.

Located at 115 Collins Street in a cosy basement, the restaurant is divided into the White Room (bright, airy and in full view of the bar and kitchen) the Dark Room (intimate and chic) and the Private Dining Room.  Check out some of our sample menus, photos of the restaurant and the team at work.

We are open Monday~Saturday from 12pm to late and Sunday nights from 6pm.... for reservations please contact us on 1300 799 415

Millions watched the trials and tribulations of our first group of apprentices on television: why not come and see what goes on for yourself?  Drop in and see us for a drink and a bite or get in touch to make a booking - we’d love to hear from you.
