Fifteen Apprentices display their entrepreneurial flair for charity
Fifteen’s Group 7 Apprentices turn into TV show apprentices next week when they split into two groups to fufill a fundraising challenge laid down by the Fifteen Foundation during Apprenticeships Week (Feb 23-27th).
Both groups have been given a budget of £50 and asked to create and sell an edible product this Wednesday (March 4th). The aim is to raise as much money as possible for the Fifteen Foundation, the charity that runs our groundbreaking apprenticeship scheme.
The two ideas couldn’t be more different.
Group A, headed up by Owain Atkinson, has opted to serve up delicious pasta and Tuscan soup to local Old Street businesses while Group B – with Dan Parish at the helm – are heading to the West End to set up a “pop up” takeaway, in Carnaby Street, selling credit brunches of Label Anglais chicken or roasted vegetable wraps.
A healthy stream of business orders have been taken by Group A already while Group B are hastily preparing a shop in three days.
Tromie Dodd, Fifteen Foundation’s programme manager, says:
“This is exactly the sort of exercise that illustrates what apprenticeships are all about – the blend of hard commercial reality combined with skills learning. Both groups have come up with completely different ideas which is brilliant and we’re looking forward to seeing which one makes the most profit.”
Stepping into the role of Alan Sugar will be Fifteen Foundation’s very own boss Penny Newman who will be judging both groups’ efforts and awarding a winner at the end of the day.
If you’re a business within 1km of Fifteen then please contact marketing@fifteenlondon.com for details of the lunch orders. Alternatively, if you’re in the Carnaby Street area between 8am and 3pm next Wednesday be sure to pop into the Fifteen Credit Brunch Takeaway, 63 Broadwick Street, near the entrance to Carnaby Street (www.carnaby.co.uk).
