Fifteen grows up

New year, new look for Fifteen.

As a new decade dawns Fifteen is embarking on an exciting journey in 2010 with some changes to our flagship restaurant and apprentice training centre. 

The apprentices spend more than half their training on site at the restaurant so it’s essential that we provide an environment with the best kitchen equipment and modern appliances.

With that in mind quite a bit of the refresh is going on “behind the scenes” away from the public eye starting with the opening of a new training centre for the apprentices round the corner in Nile Street; this is the apprentices' base on the days when they're in the restaurant and is a place for the young chefs to study on the computers as well as participate in workshops and classes. It's also the home of the Fifteen Foundation programme team so if any of the apprentices have any issues or problems, they are on hand to support.

After we’ve seen in the New Year we will be closing for four days, at the beginning of January, to completely refit the kitchens and at the same time refresh the interiors in both the ground floor Trattoria and the Dining Room downstairs.

If you’ve visited Fifteen of late, you may have noticed a new look to the exterior with new grey awnings - and, of course, a touch of the signature pink Fifteen logo! Well, we've got plenty more going on inside too.

The Trattoria, will be closed from New Year’s Day and we’ll be reopening Wednesday 6th for the evening service. You’ll see a new look and feel, which will include a new bar area, new tables and chairs, a fresh coat of paint and a new uniform for our waiting team. These will complement some of the subtle changes that have recently been introduced such as the refreshed glassware, crockery and cutlery.

The Dining Room will undergo biggest transformation with a scheduled reopening date of Thursday 14th for the evening service. The downstairs kitchen - the training ground for our chef apprentices - will be fitted out with state-of-the-art equipment and appliances. The main dining space will also be refreshed with a new look and feel with an emphasis on elegance and intimacy.

Where possible, part of the refresh will include some sustainable touches as part of our aim to move closer to this goal.
