The Mince Pie Project

posted by ange on December 6, 2011

On Monday 5th Dec, apprentice Tony Phillips attended the launch The Mince Pie Project.

This brand new Christmas fundraising initiative is the creation of entrepreneur and keen foodie, Peter Butler. It will take the form of an online auction of mince pies – baked by chefs including Raymond Blanc, Angela Hartnett and our very own apprentice Tony Phillips!

Each chef’s batch of 50 pies will be auctioned to the highest bidder. The auction takes place at www.themincepieproject.com from the 9th to the 16th of December. Bidders can get regular updates and follow a live leader board throughout the auction week. All the proceeds will be donated to Action Against Hunger and The Jamie Oliver Foundation.

Tony Phillips said:
"I’m loving being part of this project. I researched several mince pie recipes from traditional to modern and even medieval mince pies! I wanted to add a twist and make it taste, look and smell like Christmas so I thought about what ingredients would be complimentary and eventually decided on adding chocolate to the mince and nutmeg and citrus flavours to the pastry."
